THOMAS THE TRAIN WEEKENDS' BOOTH-June 27th-29th and July 4th-6th 2008 beginning of fraternal year for Council #2208

Kentucky Railway Museum, New Haven, KY ~http://www.kyrail.org~
This has been our Council's beginning of the year project for the past two fraternal years. We set up a booth by the Railroad tracks on the backside of the New Haven Train station right across from the petting zoo. We offer cold drinks like Gatorade and ice cold water for visitors and travelers who come to see Thomas the Train and all of his friends. Some of our knights have actually been Mr. Topumhat or one of his helpers. Our two seminarians, Greg Stearns and James Cesare have both been Mr. Topumhat before....But our Knights of Columbus Council has a booth there all separate from the main "going's on" at the Train Station. Our Beloved Financial Secretary, Bob Rowlett, is always there waving to the little children as they come into the train station or go out. The Children and their parents love the enthusiasm and the warmth Bob shares with them as he waves "hello"  or "goodbye" every time the train arrives or departs from the station. Our booth is that close to the railroad tracks!  We sold enough cold drinks at the Thomas the Train weekends to profit Four Hundred and Ninety dollars.
We were hoping to make more than that but the actual numbers of people who came to this event were down by half from last year due to gas prices and extra travel costs. We had a total of nine of our knights of columbus Council help out at the booth both weekends of June 27th-29th and July 4th-July 6th. We worked a total of 86 man hours for both weekends. Our Chairman for the project was John Schwoebel, who became the District Deputy for the 11th District of Kentucky. He can be reached at 270-789-1349.
