Knights of Columbus Council #2208 at 174 N. Main Street, New Haven, KY 40051 US - Parking Cars at the Nelson County Fair from July 14th - 19th!
| Parking Cars at the Nelson County Fair from July 14th - 19th! |
This was a great happening for our Council and our surrounding Community leaders in Nelson County. The Nelson County Fair Board was willing to let our Knights of Columbus Council get the opportunity to do a Community Service for the County and at the same time promote our Council and give us the chance to earn a little money for our 4th degree knights and council in general. The Grand Knight proposed a contract of $2,750.00 to be given to the Council for parking cars every night for the County Fair from July 14th- 19th.. Other organizations and groups have done this before, but the County board had not been happy with the chaos that had been created by big crowds etc...This was a man-size job that needed organization and exceptional communication and coordination.
All in all, Council #2208 came through with congratulations from a job well done and thoroughly coordinated to perfection. We had 22 of our Council's young men and old men working to make this all possible..We had Robert Rowlett FS, who bravely directed traffic day in and day out....We had our great leader, 4 Star General Joe Hess on his 4 wheeler directing our knights to guide the cars to their appropriate parking spaces. We were chatting on our walkie- talkies and getting the low down on the traffic situations constantly. Whenever we had to make adjustments it was amazing how perfectly coordinated our efforts were.. It was like a perfect military operation, being at the right place at the right time. The Grand Knight, "General" Joe Hess, and "Director of Traffic" Bob Rowlett FS, were always there every night and day that we were parking cars....The Grand Knight has a collection of funny emails he sent to Council members about our efforts at the Nelson County Fair. All in all it was a very successful undertaking and it brought some positive notoriety for our Council as well. The Knights did over 392 service hours and raised $2,750.00 for our Council while doing a tremendous service to our Community and having alot of fun doing it.!!
