Knights of Columbus Council #2208 at 174 N. Main Street, New Haven, KY 40051 US - Halloween Party October 24th at St. Catherine's Gym for children and parents

Halloween Party October 24th at St. Catherine's Gym for children and parents

The Knights of Columbus supplied all the candy for the event and six of our knights put together 200 bags full of candy Monday night before the event. Alan put together a list of games and put alot of time into preparing the games for the party the week before. All the Knights that took part in the Halloween party were dressed in costume for the event. Don Ulrich and his son Josh were very scary characters, but the children still came and pinned the broom on the witch...The pumpkin making booth was alot of fun for the kids because they had to blow the different parts of the pumpkin onto a picture only using a straw and wind from their lungs to put the pieces on. Some of the kids were great at this while others struggled... Then there was the ping pong ball balancing races, where a team of four children had to balance a ping pong ball onto a spoon and race the length of the basketball court and back to the next person in line without dropping it. Then they did the race over again but the kids had to do it running backwards!!! Everyone had a great time and partly because the parents were all involved as well. All children had to be accompanied by a parent and the parents seemed to have as much fun as everyone else. We had a costume judging for those between the ages of 1-5, 6-10, and 10 and up. There were some great costumes!! The costume judges were Josh Ulrich, Jeremy Martin, and Rebecka Martin. They had a hard time judging but the final judges were the audience in the stands. The three finalists in each age group got to stand before their peers and their parents and the person who got the loudest applause for their costume was the winner!! Winners received their own goody baskets!
At the door for the event was our Scary own dressed in army fatigues "General" Joe Hess, who scared the kids as they gave their $2.00 to get into the Party. Robert Rowlett was a cowboy serving refreshments of free cookies and lemonade to all of the participants. There were eight of our knights who dressed up and helped with various of the games. The MC was Alan Thompson. Our DJ for the event was a friend of one of our Council members and hopefully will become our next member. We counted 84 children who came and there were at least 40 parents who got in free of charge....I will send you copies of our advertising flyer for the event and we are hoping to post pictures of the event on our website as soon as we can get them from our photographer and fellow knight, Albert Cesare, who was there taking pictures..This Halloween party didn't make any money but was a tremendous success in youth and family fun!! There were a total of 13 knights that participated and many of our children came and were there having fun as well. In all, we put in 50 hours of service for the event.
